Karl Heinz Koch-Stöber

     Karl Heinz Koch-Stöber (1938-2000)

Karl Heinz Koch-Stöber was born 1938 in Weimar, Gemany. Already the schoolboy  showed as musical as  painting talent. So he attended the Franz-List Musical Academy in Weimar and became a graduated violinist. Up to 1967 he was member of the Radio-Symphonic-Orchestra in East-Berlin. During the time he worked as a violinist in the Radio-Symphonic-Orchestra Karl Heinz Koch-Stöber studied painting under the supervision of the well-known Weimar artist and painter A. von Szinger.
1968  - 1969 Karl Heinz Koch-Stöber was  sent to Cambodia as assistant professor for violin and viola by the ministry of culture of the GDR. Due to political non conformity with regard to his instructions to have no contact to people from foreign countries – especially people from the so called Imperialistic Countries – in the official version of the Communists; he was called back early to the GDR. After his calling back from Cambodia Karl Heinz Koch-Stöber could not find employment in the GDR. He barely managed to exist up to 1989 with painting and especially restoration work. Exhibitions or other public activities were forbidden by the administrative body in the years up to 1989.
Starting with the peace-full revolution in the autumn of 1989 in the GDR Karl Heinz Koch-Stöber worked full in broad daylight as painter and musician. He had in Berlin and other cities numerous exhibitions of his paintings.
Karl Heinz Koch-Stöber died 2000 in Berlin after a serious disease.
